Here are the top 3 stories in Buffalo today: A fire at the Grand Hotel in downtown Buffalo caused $3 million in damages on Wednesday night. Fire crews responded to the fire after receiving a call shortly after midnight for smoke coming from the parking garage of the building. The fire was located in the hotel's second-floor ballroom, and officials declared the blaze under control just before 3 a.m. Around 50 guests were safely evacuated, and one firefighter was injured during a fall on duty. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (WBFO)John Garcia has officially been sworn in as the 54th sheriff of Erie County. Garcia won 46 percent of the votes in the race to replace former sheriff Timothy Howard. He brings more than 25 years of experience in law enforcement to the role and is expected to begin his new duties as sheriff on Jan. 1. (Spectrum News)New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Thursday that $50,000 has been secured for RV owners who could not obtain timely repairs from two area retailers. The attorney general's office formed agreements with Buffalo RV and Albany RV to compensate consumers who were harmed by the comapanies' dishonest business practices. Anyone who believes they have paid for repairs that should have been made without charge from either business is encouraged to file a consumer complaint.
