Man Charged In Drive-By Shooting In Hamden: Police

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that injured an 18-year-old woman late last month, according to police. Police responded to the area of Manila Avenue and Oregon Avenue around 9 p.m. on Nov. 27 on the report of shots fired, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan. Dolan said a vehicle traveling on Manila Avenue was struck during the gunfire, and an 18-year-old passenger suffered a graze wound as a result of the shooting. An extensive investigation by Detective Shawn Nutcher found that an occupant of the vehicle was the apparent target of the shooting, according to Dolan. Dolan said an arrest warrant was later secured for Cristian Calle, 20, who was identified as the shooter. Calle was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree assault – illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and first-degree breach of peace. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond with a court date of Feb. 9.
