LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — More free COVID-19 testing is coming to Loudoun County, the Loudoun County Health Department announced on Thursday. Two events this week reached capacity hours before their scheduled closing time. The next testing event is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 4. Start times will also be moved an hour earlier to 9 a.m. "Increasing access to testing is important as we see a surge in infection rates in our region," Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend said in a news release. "Additionally, because it is possible for fully vaccinated people to become infected and unknowingly spread the virus, getting tested when you may have been exposed to COVID-19 or when you're feeling sick is a critical step toward limiting the spread of the virus." In the past, the health department has held the testing events at a variety of locations on a rotating basis. The first testing events in January will be held at the county's largest testing site, to accomodate demand. In the future, testing sites will be announced on a week-to-week basis. Testing events will continue to be held on Tuesdays and Fridays, as long as there is demand for them. Here is the schedule and location of the first two free COVID-19 testing events in 2022.
