Press release from City of Fort Worth:
December 29, 2021
The Fort Worth Public Library is launching a new program Jan. 1 to help Fort Worth families with young children jumpstart their reading journey. The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program uses Beanstack, a free online tool to record progress.
This is a self-paced program that depends on how often individual caregivers and children read. It can take anywhere from a few months to a few years – whatever works best for each family. Every time a child reads (or is read to) 100 books, they're invited to visit any Fort Worth Public Library location to pick a prize and snap a photo with special award photo frames.
Participants can even count attending Library story times and other reading initiatives. The Fort Worth Public Library also offers a variety of parent support programs in English and Spanish focused on early childhood literacy.
