Aryaditya (Adi) Lankipalle has qualified to become an Eagle Scout at an Eagle Scout Board of Review, held by the Twin Valley District of Scouts BSA, his Court of Honor is planned for early 2022. He is the son of Rajani and Giriprasad Lankipalle of Pleasanton and is a member of Troop 998 sponsored by VFW Post 6298. Many thanks to his scoutmaster Sam Hensen for his hard work and support. Adi has been an active leader in his troop, serving as Senior Patrol Leader, Instructor, Troop Guide, Chaplain Aide, Scribe, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Patrol Leader. He appreciated being able to learn key life skills with every experience and requirement, exploring his interests through merit badges, ranks, self-improvement and becoming a better and more moral person through learning the ideals of Scouting and the opportunity to make friends from outside the usual circle who he could trust for life. His memories included unique experiences like Scuba Diving at the Florida Sea Base, backpacking, kayaking and spelunking. He has written for Scouttips.com, a Scouting related blog about scouting skills, outdoors, survival, and travel. Adi is a junior at Amador Valley High School where he has been in the marching band for 3 years and is section leader of Mellophones. He plays in Concert band at AVHS and the California Youth Symphony Orchestra and participated in Northern California Band Director's Association Honor Band. He has participated in the AVHS Investment Club and DECA, and written for the Financial Magazine streetfins.com. Having 8 years of Taekwondo, he is a 3rd degree black belt and assistant instructor. He received the President's Service Award 3 consecutive years for over 100 hours of volunteering. His interests include music, volunteering, entrepreneurial thinking, reading about history and politics, the outdoors and traveling to national parks. For his Eagle project, "Adi's Clothes and Shoes Drive", he organized a drive to collect thousands of clothes for an orphanage in India, through the beneficiary Spandana Foundation. Articles of clothing were collected, cleaned, sorted, and packed to be sent to the orphanage. Every few years, his family visits India and travels to villages and schools in rural areas to observe and help impoverished youths. Observing the problems afflicting children in these areas, such as lack of clean water, sufficient education, and clothing, he wanted to give back to his international community and to his country of origin. He came across Sai Seva Trust orphanage that cares for hundreds of kids in Telangana state of South India which needed clothing and shoes. Over 50 volunteers spent more than 400 hours collecting, cleaning and sorting over 8500 articles of clothing and shoes. Promotion included posters, flyers, and postings on Facebook and Nextdoor. Over 20 volunteers managed drop-off zones and over 30 volunteers sorted, washed, folded and packed over 100 shipping boxes. The clothing was given to Spandana Foundation for shipping. There were numerous roadblocks due to changing COVID-19 rules and regulations and social interactions demanding adaptability of the project as well. Through it all, Ari gained a great deal of experience in planning and making spontaneous decisions by taking on numerous leadership roles through the many phases of the project. Adi's life plans include: attend a prestigious four year university to major in Computer Science and eventually become an entrepreneur and start a business on the side, retire and become a philanthropist with his life's wealth to impact the community through teaching and charitable giving. He would like to raise a family with sons and daughters and instill in them the ideals of Scouting. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. They must also plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project benefiting a religious institution, school or community group.
