CREST HILL, IL — Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark announced that 28-year-old Daeviontae Pruitte has been arrested in connection with Sunday's early morning non-fatal shooting of a woman in the 1900 block of Hickory Street. Earlier in the week, Clark told Joliet Patch that the shooting appeared to be the result of a road rage incident. "I would like to personally thank Joliet Police S.O.S., Illinois State Police, the Cooperative Police Assistance Team and Sheriff Ken Briley and the Grundy County Sheriff's Office for their support and assistance in this case," Clark said in Thursday night's news release. "Our entire department is working very hard on this case, especially the investigators." Police arrested Pruitte around 10:45 a.m. Thursday and Grundy County Sheriff's deputies conducted a search of his apartment in unincorporated Morris on Park Avenue. Later in the day, Pruitte was brought to the Crest Hill Police Department for questioning and processing in connection the Dec. 26 shooting of the female motorist on Hickory Street. For now, Pruitte has been charged with violating bail and a warrant for his arrest also charged him with being a felon in possession of ammunition. Pruitte is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections, Clark noted. On Feb. 9, Joliet police arrested Pruitte on charges of being an armed habitual criminal in the 500 block of Oneida Street after police say he was banging on a relative's car armed with a gun around 4:25 a.m. "Officers determined that a female was leaving for work at which time a vehicle pulled alongside her vehicle," Joliet police reports showed. According to police, Pruitte got out of his car and began punching the woman's window and he tried to get inside her locked car. Pruitte is a relative of the woman, reports show. At the time of that arrest, Pruitte lived in Lockport, Joliet police noted. "Priutte possessed a handgun in his hand during the altercation. The victim drove away from Pruitte and returned home to call 911," according to Joliet police
