SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a South Bay armed robbery spree over the weekend, Milpitas police said.
The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old San Jose man, was arrested Monday in connection with the robberies and other warrants, police said.
The suspect was on probation in Santa Clara County probation for assault likely to produce great bodily injury and had a felony fraud warrant and a felony violation of probation warrant for his arrest, according to police.
He is accused of robbing three convenience stores and liquor stores Saturday and Sunday, police said.
He was arrested after a patrol officer located and got the license plate number of a vehicle matching a description of the suspect's vehicle on Monday, police said.
Officers learned the suspect was staying at a local hotel and obtained a $200 warrant for his arrest and a search of his room, police said.
Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force aided the local law enforcement agency in the suspect's arrest, police said.
"As a result of the quick work of the patrol officers and detectives along with the department's partnership with the auto theft task force, the suspect was arrested less than six hours after being identified," police said.
"Detectives shared information regarding our investigation with surrounding agencies as the suspect was believed to have committed additional robberies within Santa Clara County."
