BIRMINGHAM, AL — As 2021 comes to an end, the coronavirus pandemic, unfortunately, has not. In fact, the U.S. has seen a significant spike in cases of the virus and hospitalizations, which is why the Levite Jewish Community Center has adopted measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
"Our commitment to the health and safety of our community is unwavering," LJCC executive director Aimee Johnson said in a statement Thursday. "In light of the ongoing surge of new Covid cases in our greater community — and after seriously considering our options — the LJCC is adopting the following measures to begin Sunday, January 1 (we will reassess the situation just two weeks later, on January 15)."
Measures that will go into effect Jan. 1 include:
Masks will be required in public areas, on the fitness floor, and in administrative officesWe will limit the number of participants in group fitness classesSwim instructors and lifeguards will wear facial coveringsEnhanced cleaning will be maintained throughout the facilityWe will move classes outdoors when possible "Accept our sincere appreciation for your continued help protecting our members and neighbors during this relatively brief two-week period,"Johnson said.
