Toby is a 1 year old #Hounddog / #Rottweiler mix that needs a home ASAP! We cannot believe this boy wasn’t adopted! This is Toby’s 2nd stay at the shelter in just 3 months. He was found by the pokey this Fall after getting out. He was only around 10 months old, however he was found and returned to owner. We believe he was part of a litter, because in the past few months he was sold to a new home who then surrendered poor Toby. Toby’s owner said he “is destructive and chews on things. He is okay when the owners are home, only when left home alone.” Um, DUH! He’s a teething puppy! Sounds like they were not ready for a puppy. Toby has now sat at the shelter for 3 weeks watching faces come and go, but no one adopted him. Toby is only getting out of his kennel every 3-4 days at the shelter, so when he does he has a TON of puppy energy! 💥 He has been jumping up to get attention and running circles around families he has met in the play yard. Toby is a great dog with typical puppy notes: chewing, nipping at sleeves, treat focused, mouthy, and clumsy on a leash. This is no reason for him to be put down. Toby knows how to shake, sit for treats, and play fetch! ⚾️ He has gone into his kennel without issues, but needs something to keep him busy while inside so he doesn’t chew up his bedding. 🐕 He has appeared interested in playing with other dogs, but no evaluation has been done so his new home will need to listen to their rescue on how to best introduce Toby to current pets and kids. 🏠 Since he has been abandoned, the shelter is now requiring a rescue to assist an adoption so he doesn’t end up here a third time.
