Description
Supp craigslist killas! 😎 Newly formed Dream-pop/Shoegaze band seeking a Drummer. My name is Ryan(Bassist) and my friends John(Vocalist/Guitarist) and Shane(Lead Guitarist/Keyboardist/Producer) and we have been talking about starting a band and have recently decided to pull the trigger on it! Our goal is to write music, then produce that music at our home studio in Marietta and gather connects so we can start playing shows in and around Atlanta and potentially go further. Bands we're into: Holy Wave, Mild High Club, CASTLEBEAT, Beach Fossils, King Gizz, Sunbeam Sound Machine, DIIV, Vacations, Tame Impala, Homeshake, Mac DeMarco, Mr. Elevator, Hibou, Ringo Deatharr, Slowdive, Pond, STRFCKR, Washed Out, Acid Dad, Allah-las, MGMT, Wild Nothing, Deserta, Slowdive, etc. We're looking for a drummer that can drum very comparable to these artists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LxU0PrsAFQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQH2Kq1QXaI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kY8teCHVqI If you don't really know those artists or what dream-pop or the shoegaze genre really is, this may not be for you. First and foremost, we are not looking for a Metallica or Arena Rock drummer, nor are we looking for a Neil Peart or Dave Grohl. 😅 As much as I love heavy metal, no metal drummers please. If you listen to those artists above on Youtube, it's not super complicated drums and it's usually repetitive drumming so "patience" is a major characteristic we're looking for. So if you're the "must play complicated intricate fusion drumbeats" drummer then this endeavor is not for you. A couple songs we've made, however are very fast and require fast drum fills, which in the end are really energetic songs so there will be opportunities for fast drumming as not all our music is chill. Our ambition is to play only "fun" sounding music. The demos we have are definitely not boring I will say. In conclusion, we're looking for a drummer that can play simple beats(even if that same beat is played for 2min straight) to fast fills! It's dream-pop and shoegaze music, it's dainty and quaint. It's simple, It's not really hit the drums hard and play loud. 👈😎 All of us have made countless demos in the past which are all fully structured out songs from start to finish which we believe are going to help us get the ball rolling quick. We've picked out 4 demos which the three of us all agreed are best and are currently working on. An Intro Song, a fast dream-pop song, a medium bpm shoegaze/chill song and an upbeat almost indie-pop kinda song. We've all established it'll actually be most resourceful to simply begin work on music that is already arranged and composed, rather than aimlessly try to come up with music on the fly at rerhersal. I've been in bands in which we've attempted to make music strictly during rehearsal and 90% of the time the sound just doesn't come out great and a lot of problems became overlooked because we didn't dissected the composition so figure out exactly what we're doing. Examples of this maybe that the bass guitar and kick drum end up playing their own separate non corresponding rhythms or perhaps the melody "call and response" hasn't been analyzed. I know you may say you that music shouldn't be analyzed and you should play from your soul. Agreed! but contrary, It actually is very important to at least try to know what you're doing. That's how a band becomes pro level! That's how every single one of your favorite artists that you are listening to right now did it. They didn't just wing it, they clocked in, put in hardworking hours and carefully planned out what they were gonna do and stated that very clearly. That is what we are going to do! Writing music on the fly is great if you're an experienced professional level musicians, have been doing it for years and can pull it off, however we are not exactly pro musicians. So the "write music at home/bring it to practice" is the approach we are initially taking. We're trying to make music in 2021 not 1972. That being said, if you're not the type of person that is willing to conform to other peoples' ideas, designs, thoughts, dreams, visions then this project is decidedly not for you. However, Shane and I are all ears to hear your suggestions too for Drumming ideas, music, opinions! I also want to assure you that we've got some promising reviews in regards to our demos from friends, coworkers, family, online, random strangers at bars, etc. I can reassure you that these demos are great compositions. To put painly, they're fun! Super energetic, lively and none are boring, that's if you're into Dreampop/Indie/Shoegaze music. I will send you the demos right away for you to listen to as soon as you respond to my email! We rehearse at Shanes house in his basement which is large and spacious. We have a full drum set made by Mapex as well as a home studio for DIY recording which Shane has experience. We are looking for someone that preferably does own their own drum set, lives in a house and has the capability to practice their drums during their free time. What I mean by that is you have no limitations to when and where you can practice on your own at home. An example of this was when I was in this band years ago with a drummer that lived in an apartment. Therefore, he was unable to rehearse except for at band practices at our house or face eviction. All was good at practice, but when we hit the studio to record his drums, we noticed... he was off... a lot and inconsistent with timing and velocity so we concluded that the issue was that he was not getting enough practice on his own time. In all, you can't just be coming to band practice for 4hrs and expect that's when all the magics gonna happen. You have to consistently practice on your own time to get better and learn our material. So yes, we are looking for someone that owns their own drum set, lives in a house and can practice once a day during their own free time. That is very very important to us. We play in Marietta. I'm 29 and Shane is 30, John is 26 and we ARE looking to play with members in our age range. We rehearse on Sunday nights and on Tuesday nights! Also you MUST be close(within 30min) of Marietta. However, not only are we looking for members, we're looking for friends to add to our group! Every band I've ever been in we've always been really close, had solid connections and I still hang out with a lot of previous members. We go out to bars, parties, festivals, etc. We all have energetic, funny, hardworking personalities and are fun guys to be around with a talent and ambition for writing music. We all 3 have very like-minded ideas and wanna put them to practice on how we want to make music and are looking for a 4th that also shares those visions. If you're interested, send us: 1.) Samples of you drumming if you have any(even if it's a phone recording) 2.) Your email address so I can send you our music/demos 3.) A little bit about yourself and experience 4.) What kinda drum set do you have? 5.) Where do you live? 6.) What is your age? 7.) And Face-shot or picture of you 👍 Please make sure you respond to those 7 easy questions. Just as you would for a professional job we're asking for some info on you. That's all! 😎 Respond to my CL email or text me If everything sounds good then let's first meet up for a beer or five! 😁 Thanks! ~Ryan
