I have an all black Norwegian Elkhound who needs a new home. I thought I could give him what he needs but after a year I've come to realize that I can't provide the patience and attention he needs. I have a special needs daughter who needs all my attention more than ever now, so unfortunately I am unable to juggle them both.. He is about 2 years old, but has a few quirks, such as, not liking the rain or his feet touched, and barking at strangers/dogs/cats when first meeting them. Although he barks at strangers, once he's around the stranger/dog/cat for the day he completely changes into their best friend. When we first met him he barked at us for about 30 minutes but then took a nap on my daughter's lap on the way home. Then he acted like he's know us for our whole lives. If you're looking for a dog who will be very affectionate, but protective around strangers, he is perfect for you.. He had a dog brother at his last home and he has a dog brother in my home as well, so he does well with dogs that he has been around for a while. We also had some kittens around him at one point and he was nice with them, but we do not own a cat so he is not around them a lot. He does not destroy his toys, his coat is thin so shedding isn't a problem. He is already neutered with all shots and does not have any health problems. There is a rehoming fee of $100, so I know whoever he goes to really is willing to give him the love and patience he deserves.
