This is a one day class covering honeybees in Northern Nevada and surrounding areas and how to care for a hive.
What will be covered:
* Definitions and Bee Jargon.
* Bee biology and what's inside a colony.
* The Langstroth Hive.
* Placing the bee hive – location.
* First year management - a brief rundown.
* What can go wrong as well as pest and disease management.
* Equipment needed
* Cost of equipment and tools
* Acquiring bees- bee-packages and Nucs
* Getting your bees into the hive.
* Resources – NNBA club and others, internet etc.
* Honey extraction and bottling
There will also be a 30 minute lunch time- no food to be provided
*Limited Seating, Paying Patrons Only. Please arrive 20 minutes early for check-in. Class will start on-time*
