Salem Council On Aging Cancels New Year's Eve Party

SALEM, MA — The New Year's party at the Salem Council on Aging is one of many North Shore events that will have to wait until 2022 because of a spike in coronavirus cases in the area. The Community Life Center staff said the Council on Aging is canceling its larger scheduled events this week because of a rise in COVID numbers. The New Year's Eve party scheduled for Wednesday, as well as the classes scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, were canceled. "We apologize for the short notice," the CLC team said, "but feel as though this is the best decision to keep everyone safe during these challenging times." The building remained open for scheduled appointments, transportation, lunches, fitness room use and library use. The building was open until 4 p.m.on Wednesday and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Community Life Center is closed on Friday and Saturday. The CLC team said it hopes to reschedule canceled events for "later in January."
