LONG BEACH, NY — The omicron variant surge on Long Island is causing the Long Beach Public Library to adjust its holiday schedule.
The library announced that all branches will be closed until Jan. 3.
There is a staff shortage due to the COVID-19, the library tweeted.
"Please stay safe and thank you for your patience and support during a rapidly changing situation," the library wrote on its website.
Online programs will remain as scheduled. No fines will be assessed, the library said.
Items on hold will be available until Wed. Jan. 5.
The positivity rate on Long Island increased to 16.2 percent on Monday, according to data from Gov. Kathy Hochul's office.
