STAMFORD, CT — A 40-year-old man was arrested on Dec. 22 after police said he stabbed another man on Pacific Street in Stamford on Dec. 1. Wilfredo Ramirez-Alvarado, who does not have a listed address, was charged with first degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon, according to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department. Ramirez-Alvarado was given a court-set bond of $250,000, and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2022. On Dec. 1, a patrol officer was flagged down by a man in his 30's who had been stabbed in the area of the 650 block of Pacific Street near a restaurant, Conklin said. Investigators were able to pull security video which showed the stabbing. Conklin said a dispute between the victim and a man, later identified as Ramirez-Alvarado, spilled out onto the street where the victim was stabbed once. The victim suffered a laceration to his liver and bleeding in his diaphragm. He was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was treated and released after a few days, Conklin said. Stamford Police Officer Marco Califano was able to positively identify Ramirez-Alvarado, and an arrest warrant was applied for and signed on Dec. 22. Conklin said officers Luis Serna and Phil Neri were in the area of 56 Stillwater Avenue later that day on a different matter and noticed Ramirez-Alvarado walking down the street. He was taken into custody without incident, Conklin said. Conklin noted Ramirez-Alvarado was wearing the same clothes that he wore on Dec. 1 when the stabbing took place. Ramirez-Alvarado had a warrant for failure to appear stemming from a trespassing charge, Conklin said. He was additionally charged with second-degree failure to appear.
