Position Summary: The role of the Utility Pole Fielder is to research and document pre-approved fiber distribution plant in California and then will play an important role in the team ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our services building fiber to our customers. Under supervision, prepare pole walk out sheets for our Utility Pole Engineer. Outside plant construction and project management skills with the ability to work independently, sufficient experience with computers and the ability to use the applicable software that is used enabling a successful fiber build. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Entry Level position which will learn processes and procedures for documenting new aerial network designs. • Use of laser, measuring stick, and other tools necessary to take a complete audit of utility poles. • Walk out and document new or existing plant with staff knowledgeable about existing network. • Plan routes from the current network finding the best route to permit to the customer location. • Prepare all aerial permits for: Railroads, ODOT, Cities, Counties and Utilities, ensuring timely permit approval. • Attend coordination and progress meetings. • Under the direction of the Construction Lead perform site pre-inspections and post-construction audits. • Help the department with as build documentation updating the Fiber Engineering Team. • Work flexible hours, which would include nights and weekends. • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision. • Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.). • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor. Job Requirements: • Strong computer and software skills including Microsoft Office Suite. • ROW Permit or surveying experience. • Intermediate math skills required. • Work experience in the telecommunication construction field preferred. • Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions. • Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night. • Work performed near power lines and electricity. • Ability to think creatively and strategically. • Effective communication skills are essential as is a cooperative attitude toward co-workers, customers and contractors. • Organization and time management skills. • Ability to interact effectively with other team members. • Must be able to work independently without supervision. • Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies. • Valid driver's license for three years, auto insurance, with a satisfactory driving record.
