Description

Provide general maintenance, landscaping and janitorial services in a safe, professional manner. Work as part of a team, troubleshoot and help provide a clean, safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and community members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities •Cleans and disinfects student eating areas, gym, offices, locker rooms and other facilities as assigned; dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; empties waste receptacles; spot mops spills; removes gum, debris and graffiti as needed. •Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals; fills dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper, disinfectant spray and other items; washes mirrors, tile, walls and windows; unclog drains and toilets. •Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkway and areas adjacent to school facilities; sweeps and or blows concrete surfaces adjacent to school buildings. •Sweeps, scrubs, mops, strip, waxes and polishes floors; vacuum rugs in classrooms, offices and other work areas; spot cleans and shampoos carpets. •Maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies; orders, receives, stores and distributes custodial supplies and materials. •Operates custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, buffer/scrubber machines, power tools and other equipment as assigned. •Replaces light bulbs and tubes; changes air filters; cleans white boards, trays and erasers; empties pencil sharpeners; cleans and disinfects tables, chairs and floors. •Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; prepares classrooms and other facilities for special events and or meetings as assigned; sets up and assembles chairs, tables and other furniture and equipment; cleans up furniture, equipment and debris following these events. •Locks and unlocks doors, gates, and windows as appropriate and assigned; turns lights on and off as needed; maintains security of assigned areas according to CNHS guidelines. •Reports on safety, sanitary, fire hazards and need of maintenance and repairs to the Director of Facilities. •Participates in the thorough cleaning and restoration of campus facilities and other assigned duties during student/faculty vacation periods. •Other duties as assigned. Experience and Educational Qualifications Qualifications include: •Model for students in the mission and values of Cardinal Newman High School •Ability to provide a Catholic education and religious environment that upholds values, ethics and standards of behavior •Previous maintenance, construction, electrical, carpentry and/or landscaping experience a plus •Ability and willingness to take direction •Ability and willingness to learn to use special tools •Ability to speak, read and write English Working Conditions and Physical Requirements ●Position type: Full-time, non-exempt ●Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:30pm. May occasionally be required to work weekends and/or a shifting schedule, to help cover when other team members are out. ●Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons and types of weather. ●Must be able to work physically on tasks for long periods of time. ●Must have visual acuity. ●Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, crouch and stoop for extended periods of time. ●Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. ●Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and use a telephone or handset.
