ARLINGTON, VA — While New Year's Day is often a day to recover from the previous night's festivities, if you do plan to head out, it's good to know how the holiday may affect the availability of services in Arlington. New Year's Day is one of several holidays that usually affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Arlington. To help you plan, here's a roundup of what's open and what's closed on New Year's Day in our county: All Arlington County government offices and services will be operating on modified schedules for the New Year's holiday on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Jan. 1. COVID-19 Clinics: All Arlington County Public Health Division COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be closed Dec. 31, as well as Jan. 1-3. Curative testing kiosks will be close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31. The kiosks are also closed on Jan. 1. Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court are closed on Friday, Dec. 31. Metered Parking will not be enforced on Jan. 1. DMV & DMV Select: All DMV offices are closed. Visit DMV's Online Services to access many available. Human Services: Closed (Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Mental Health Emergency Services open 24/7/365) Libraries: Closed. Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: Community Centers are closed Dec. 31-Jan. 2 except for Long Bridge Aquatics Center, which will be open on Jan. 2. Admin offices and centers are closed. Classes are canceled. Parks are open. Permitting and Inspection Services: Permit Office is closed on Friday, Dec. 31. No building or trade inspections will take place. Online permitting is available. System is available for customer use and application submissions. Public Schools: Closed for Winter Holiday from Dec. 20-Dec. 31. Sheriff's Office: Administrative Offices are closed on Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Swimming Pools: For openings, see pool schedule. Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center is closed Dec. 31-Jan. 1, but it is open Jan. 2. Trash/Recycling/Yard Waste and Special Collections: Regular collection on Dec. 31. No mulch deliver on Dec. 31. Customer Contact Center is closed Dec. 31. Household Hazards/Electronicw Drop-off Facility No drop-off Dec. 31- Jan. 1. Earth Products Drop-off Yard is closed Jan. 1. Treasurer's Office: Closed, but CAPP available for online payments. Transportation ART - Saturday, Jan. 1: ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55, and 87 will operate regular Sunday schedules. All other ART routes will not operate. The Customer Call Center will be closed Jan. 1. STAR – The STAR Call Center will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 1.
