Description

Press release from the Arapahoe County Government: December 29, 2021 Given the recent surge in Covid case rates due to the highly contagious Omicron variant, the Tri-County Health Department will extend its public health order around indoor masking until Feb. 3, 2022. The order, which was set to expire on Jan. 3, 2022, states that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, in indoor public settings should properly wear masks to help mitigate the transmission of the virus. This extension is consistent with related developments throughout the Denver metro area. Covid positivity rates had begun to decrease in late-November, but the global emergence of the much more contagious Omicron variant around that time has sharply increased local positivity rates and could potentially place additional stress on the County's already overburdened hospital systems. The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners maintains frequent contact with Tri-County officials about this situation and will provide updates as needed. For more information, visit TCHD.org.
