Here are the top 3 stories today in Salt Lake City: A dangerous explosion at a gas station on North Temple caused by an RV driving away from a gas pump before removing the hose still inserted into the tank thankfully caused no injuries. The vehicle drug the pump to the ground and it sparked flames 10 to 15 feet high. It appears to be an accident but the driver is cooperating with law enforcement and may be issued a citation (KSL.com) After higher-than-average water use in Salt Lake City during the first part of the year, once news of the severity of the drought hit residents and calls for extreme water conservation measures were issued, Salt Lake City residents rose to the occasion. Neighborhoods serviced by Salt Lake City Public Utilities saved more than 1 billion gallons last summer in reaction to the drought, including in some cases upwards of 78 million gallons in a single day. (Salt Lake Tribune)An investigation is currently underway after Utah Highway Patrol responded to reports of a camper and a pedestrian in the northbound lanes on I-15 near SLC and found the pedestrian dead on arrival. UHP suspects it may have been a semi-truck-related incident.
