NASHUA, NH — A Bay State man is facing felony charges after an incident in the Gate City on Monday. Around 11:30 a.m., police in Nashua were sent to the Chase Bank on Amherst Street for a report of a man attempting to cash a fraudulent check. After investigating the incident, police arrested Jeff Xavier, 34, of Neponset Street in Norwood, Massachusetts, on a felony attempted theft by deception charge. Detectives, however, furthered the case and later, added two new felony charges — identity fraud and forgery. Xavier was processed and released on $750 cash bail. He is due in Hillsborough County Superior Court South on Jan. 20, 2022, for arraignment. Xavier faces 37 years in prison and fines if convicted.
