OSWEGO, IL — With holiday gatherings and the emerging omicron surge of coronavirus combining to send the demand for tests skyrocketing past supplies, an increasing number of Kendall County residents have been seeking COVID-19 testing but have found it unavailable or difficult to obtain. While cases are significantly up in Kendall County, with 1,158 reported in the last seven days, deaths are down. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported less than 10 deaths in Kendall County in the past week, down 66.7 percent from the previous week. Locations offering COVID-19 testing in and near Oswego include: Physicians Immediate Care, 2322 Route 34 in OswegoYorktown Clinical Lab Drive-Thru testing, 12337 S. Route 59 in PlainfieldCVS, 11840 Route 59 in PlainfieldCVS, 2211 S. Eola Road and 1910 Montgomery Road in Aurora Hours of operation and appointment requirements vary by site, so it's advised to check the Kendall County Health Department website to determine which site is best based on individual needs. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported that as of Monday 8,091,754 Illinoisans ages 5 and up, or 67.9 percent of the population, are fully vaccinated; 9,069,185, or 76.1 percent, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
