Description
We are two ~40 year old guys (possibly 3), both married with children, who have been playing together for 2+ years. Our intent is to write, record, and eventually play live, original music in the progressive rock genre. We practice once a week and generally on a Friday or Sunday evening. A creative, open minded, and versatile drummer that can range from finesse hi-hat work to heavy double kick playing (and not afraid to tastefully use toms where others would stick to the hat/snare/kick standard time keeper role) would be ideal. Comfort with odd time signatures is a must. Polyrhythmic playing would be a bonus, though we have shied away from that a bit recently. One of us has been playing both guitar and drums for what we are working on. We have a reasonably roomy practice space. Since we have our guitar and bass rigs setup at our practice space, interested drummers may use our drum kit (DW 5 piece, double kick, hat, ride, 2 crash,1 splash, 1 china, and congas are available). Both of us have been playing for over 20 years. We sound original, but for an idea of our influences (which is a wide range), one of us tends toward Tool, Opeth, Mastodon, but grew up with Rush, Metallica, Zeppelin; the other tends toward Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Yes, Porcupine Tree and Yes.
