JOHNS CREEK, GA — As Christmas comes and goes, you may wonder when is the best time to put out your live Christmas tree on the curb. Depending on how early you got your tree, it may be starting to dry out. In the city of Johns Creek, residents who receive trash service from the county Public Works (not a city or private agency) can set their trees at the curb if it's less than four feet tall. If taller, they must be cut in half. Trees should be placed at the curb according to the schedule for yard debris pick-up. All decorations and lights must be removed before disposing of the tree. Recycle your Christmas tree on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Home Depot parking lot, 5950 State Bridge Road. The National Fire Protection Association recommends taking your Christmas tree outside after Christmas or when the tree is dried out, as dried-out trees can create a fire hazard.
