seeking collab, original music

Description

Hi there! Looking to start up something original here. I'm a fairly experienced songwriter & multi-instrumentalist in my mid-30s, though I do not necessarily dabble in the technical aspects of music. I grew up in Kenosha, but I left a little while after graduating from high school, and I just moved back to town a few months ago after 14 years away. I gigged a lot between 2006 and 2013. I can proficiently play bass, rhythm guitar, and drums. I do not own drums, however. I also incorporate old Casio synths and loops sometimes. I have extensive experience producing beats in FL Studio, as well. Though I've mostly been known to make topical folk music (think early Bob Dylan, Pat the Bunny, etc) and catchy lofi indie rock (think Car Seat Headrest, Guided By Voices), I'd like to step away from the center of the stage to focus on the instrumental aspects of my compositional skillset. I feel I'm better suited in a supporting role. I have what some have called a "unique" singing voice -the hard truth is that I'm just not very talented when it comes to singing or writing vocal melodies. I am a folk singer, after all. I'm looking to collaborate with someone(s) that is about as nerdy about music as I am. I do not want to play in a classic rock cover band (if I'm being real, I won't play out at all til Covid is under control). I am not interested in collaborating with people that do not actively seek out music on their own. I am looking for people that love to find music they haven't heard before... people who have complex feelings about the creative media they consume and produce. In short- I want people who are true, who want to make music because they love music. Though I mentioned my experience in folk and lofi indie rock, and though those are the most prevalent genres in my listening library, I'm a fairly eclectic listener. I'd be down to do a lot of different things with music, though I don't listen to much new, popular music. I regularly listen to music from every decade going back to the 40s, though I'll admit- the majority of it is still from the 90s and 00s. I particularly love jazz from the hard bop era (M Davis, J Coltrane, H Hancock), r&b/soul from the Motown era (M Gaye, A Franklin, Supremes), shoegaze/dreampop from the late 80s & early 90s (Slowdive, Mazzy Star, MBV), and proto punk from the 70s (Television, Modern Lovers). I go on Wikipedia dives into music history a bit too often. My mp3 library is pretty friggin large. A few dealbreakers: - you show no signs of having a nuanced and serious interest in music - you don't say much of anything to confirm that it might be a good fit, but you want to meet up in person anyway - KR support or sympathy of any kind - you insist on playing out while Covid is still an issue - you have an expectation for virtuosity (I'm a modest musician, not a technical one) Anyway, if you made it this far into the post and you're still interested, you should respond. I can prove I'm real and will expect the same somewhere down the line before ever meeting up. Virtual collaboration is also on the table. All the best!
