Summary: Salary - $180 per gig, usually 1/2 day Job Type: Part Time Number of Hires for This Role: 4-8 Qualifications: -Videography: 2 years (preferred) -Bachelor's Degree (required) -Excellent communication -Flexible schedule with open availability -Hand-eye coordination, sustained focus -General familiarity with cameras/electronics Remote Work: No Schedule: On call based on your availability Work Location: Multiple locations in NYC and surrounding counties Car: Not required, but applicants with cars available for gigs will be strongly considered (with stipend for use) Details: We are looking for NYC-based freelancers with flexible schedules and open availability to work as camera operators on a per-gig basis. Merelis Productions specializes in multi-camera videography and livestreaming of stage events. This year we are also seeing record interest in our services to create virtual and pre-recorded events. We work with schools and performing arts companies, and our main gigs are musicals and plays, dance performances, concerts, graduations, and lectures. (We do not tape weddings/bar mitzvahs/parties.) Our videography staff includes performers, writers, freelance videographers/editors, musicians, and more. One videography gig is usually a half day, often early morning to about noon, or afternoon through evening. All equipment and training is provided by our company. Most gigs are in NYC, New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut. We schedule gigs on weekdays and weekends, and work is assigned on a rolling basis based on our staff members' individual availability. We are hiring 2nd camera operators at a base rate of $180 per gig to run our wide shot camera for events of varying lengths, with additional pay for longer days. Those with strong aptitude can eventually become 1st camera operators at a base rate of $210 per gig. We classify our staff as employees and pay via W-2 for tax purposes (not 1099-MISC). Please read the following: -You must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with plans to get a booster shot if you have not already. Proof of vaccination is required for entry to the venues in which we work. We cannot consider any applicants who are not fully vaccinated with a booster scheduled by Jan 15, 2022. We will ask for proof of vaccination before we schedule in-person interviews. -Candidates must be available for in-person interviews (indoors, masked and distanced) in Soho, NYC on January 18, 19, and/or 25. -We hire experienced and novice camera operators. Applicants with all levels of experience can thrive within our company. On-the-job training will bring you up to speed on our particular videography methods. We are looking for people with excellent availability and communication, good hand-eye coordination, and ability to follow instructions and work quickly. -This is per-gig part-time and seasonal work, not a full-time job. -Priority will be given to applicants with open availability in their schedule. -Promptness is absolutely required. As many of our events are in schools, we seek people who are comfortable working around children, and who make our school clients comfortable with their communication and reliability. Some of our clients require a basic background check to work within their schools, which we will help administer on their behalf. -You should live within NYC (only Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx) and have access to the subway. -Applicants with a car that meets certain safety standards will be strongly considered, and we pay a per-gig stipend ($40) for driving your car to move equipment and crew to and from your assigned gigs. -We will consider all applicants who respond to this posting in a detailed way. Do you have a car that you are willing to use for gigs, with front driver and passenger air-bags? If not, are you amenable to using our corporate Zipcar account and driving a Zipcar paid for by the company? Do you have any issue with being a passenger in one of our employees' cars or Zipcars on the way to our suburban gigs? 6) In what borough do you currently reside now and for the foreseeable future? 7) What is something you specialize in or are passionate about that is unrelated to videography? 8) Are you fully vaccinated against Covid-19? Have you gotten a booster shot or do you plan to? When? (Fully vaccinated means you have had two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.) We are looking to fill 4 to 8 slots at this time. The candidates we select to interview will be contacted the week of January 10. Interviews will be scheduled in Soho on January 18, 19 and/or 25 for training gigs starting in February 2022.
