Description
Trail Crew Leader training is a two‐day course that teaches best practices for sustainable trail design, construction, and maintenance. Southeastern Trust for Parks & Land, MTB Atlanta and North Georgia Mountain Bike Association are partnering to offer Trail Crew Leader training for volunteers that have an interest in helping to maintain trails in the central north Georgia area. This two-day course teaches best practices for sustainable trail design, construction, maintenance and how to run volunteer crews on work days. The focus is long term sustainability that can reduce overall maintenance needs and user impacts. Trail crew leaders should have a strong commitment to sustainable trails and enjoy helping others have a good time while doing trail work. Experience of at least a year is recommended to attend. Instructor: Walt Bready is the former State of Georgia Trails Education Specialist and owner/operator of Trails B-Ready. Walt has played a role in the design and construction of many miles of natural surface trails in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. He has trained trail crew leaders and presented sustainable trail courses in the southeast since 2006. Walt also worked for the Southeastern region of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) serving in a field staff position for the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). He’s a native of Atlanta and now lives in Woodstock, near the trails of Blankets Creek and Olde Rope Mill Park.
