Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School Shadow Visits Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School is hosting Shadow Visits in January 2022 for applicants applying for grades 6- 9 who are interested in the School of Performing Arts majors. All Shadow Visits will take place January 18-21 at our Vine Street Campus (1600 Vine Street Philadelphia, PA 19102). School of Performing Arts Majors include: Vocal MusicConcert BandString OrchestraContemporary DanceClassical BalletTelevision & Broadcast Arts (not offered to 6th grade students)TheatreStudents may register and attend only one (1) Shadow Visit. Shadow Visit Schedule (Arrival time details on next page) January 18-21 January 18- Vocal MusicJanuary 19- Concert Band and Strings OrchestraJanuary 20- Contemporary Dance and Classical BalletJanuary 21- Television & Broadcast Arts and TheatreShadow Visit Details You must register in order to attend a Shadow Visit.Students may register and attend only one (1) Shadow Visit. During the Shadow Visit, students will participate in the Major Class they are shadowing.Please register for the grade your child is applying for (2022-2023 school year) and the Major your child is most interested in.Each Major Class is 60-90 minutes long. Please make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the visit.If attending a Concert Band or String Orchestra Shadow Visit, students are required to bring their instrument to the visit if available. If attending a Contemporary Dance or Classical Ballet Shadow Visit, students are required to take the class in dance clothes. There will be a space they can change at the school. Contemporary Dance clothes: leotard, footless tights or leggingsBallet Dance clothes: leotard, tights, ballet slippersStudents who attend a Shadow Visit will receive a letter from our School Leader that can excuse the student’s absence from their current school.Purpose of Shadow Visits Attending a Shadow Visit does not guarantee an acceptance in our Lottery.The purpose of attending a Shadow Visit is for the student to learn about the Major they are most interested in and to get a sense of our unique arts curriculum.If accepted in the Lottery, students and their families will have the opportunity to attend a New Student Orientation to learn more about the school.Parent/Guardians Parents/Guardians may visit the 1st Floor Cafe to receive more information about the school while children are participating in the Shadow Visit.Health & Safety Masks are required to be worn by all attendees while in the school building.Students or Parents/Guardians experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who are feeling ill should NOT attend. Students or Parents/Guardians waiting for COVID-19 test results should NOT attend.Students or Parents/Guardians exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19 recently should NOT attend.Please notify [email protected] if you cannot attend leading up to the Shadow Visit that you registered for.
