Description

Press release from the Baltimore County Fire Department: December 27, 2021 BCoFD, along with local hospitals and other partners in the Baltimore regional health care system, is working hard to meet the demand for service related to the current spike in COVID cases and hospital staffing shortages. The Fire Department's mission is to help people when they have an emergency, whenever they need it. Residents and visitors should call 911 if they feel they have an emergency. All career and volunteer units that respond to emergencies are capable of providing basic medical care and the clinicians are trained to properly triage or screen callers based on the severity of their emergency. We assign personnel based on who can arrive most quickly with the resources and training to help the patient. Our system is designed to care for the sickest patients first. Frequently, a fire engine is dispatched to a medical call to begin medical care and triage.  Emergency medical service is one of the most important services Baltimore County provides; we are committed to being there for our patients when they need us.
