POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Now that the gifts are all unwrapped and the fancy electronics pulled from their cartons and set up, you may find yourself swimming in styrofoam. Whether it's packing peanuts or form-fitting styrofoam frames, you may be wondering how to be rid of it. The folks at Point Lobster Company have an answer: Bring it to them. The seafood company is accepting unneeded styrofoam from your Christmas gifts and turning it into a donation to a local shelter for women escaping domestic violence. "We have a machine that consolidates multiple styrofoam boxes into a small block, so to help save the environment a little bit at a time we use it daily," the company said in a post on Facebook. "We will sell the recycled styrofoam mini blocks to the recycling center and all money raised will go to the battered women's shelter in Ocean & Monmouth County." "So think about it, your Christmas garbage will be 'repurposed for a purpose'," the company said. Point Lobster Company is at 1 St. Louis Ave. in Point Pleasant Beach. It sells fresh seafood and a seafood restaurant operates at the site as well.
