OAK LAWN, IL — Each month the Oak Lawn Community High School Athletic Department honors a Spartan Athlete of the Month, and for November and with good reason, the award was given to boys bowler Ramiro Garcia. He leads the boys bowling team in average, he consistently rolled high games, and he made strong showings in the two invitationals during the month.
Garcia is a three-year varsity starter on the Oak Lawn Community High School boys bowling team, and he has established himself as the team leader. As such, he is giving the team belief that it can advance in the Illinois High School Association postseason and even advance to the state tournament despite very difficult sectional competition.
Garcia rolled high games of 246 (three times), 247, 253, 254, 255, 259, and 273. He finished in ninth place overall at the Oak Lawn Spartan Invite with a six-game pin total of 1,305, and he came in seventh at the Oak Forest Invite with a six-game pin total of 1,315.
"Both tournaments were loaded with 16 of the best teams from all around the Chicagoland area," said head coach Kevin Walery. "Ramiro is a leader in every sense of the word and represents Spartan Pride at every practice, match, and tournament. Keep up the great work, Ramiro."
