PENN HILLS, PA — The parents of the teenager accused of shooting and killing his brother last month are facing criminal charges. Thomas Wolfe, 35, and Sara Gerwig, 37, are charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of children, according to court documents. The 13-year-old faces homicide and gun charges in connection with the death of Connor Wolfe, 5, inside the family's home on Nov. 22. According to court documents, the 13-year-old became angry when his three younger siblings ignored his instruction to stop jumping on a bed in their Prescott Drive residence. The teen reached for his father's handgun, which was loaded and had been left unsecured, and shot Connor in the face. Court documents stated that Wolfe admitted he left the gun on top of a gun safe and that the weapon always is loaded with a live round in the chamber. Gerwig admitted being aware the gun was loaded and told authorities it had been sitting out in the open for nearly two days. Be the first to know what's happening in your community and region.
