ELMHURST, IL — In the last week, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fired employee, a bat bite, an office theft, a domestic disturbance, a confessing neighbor, a missing wedding band and a fraudulent call. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Fired and upset Police were called about 4 p.m. Dec. 22 to Trans Chicago Trucking, 776 N. York St., for a fired employee who was causing a scene and refusing to leave the property. The woman was advised she could not return, issued a no-trespass notice and released. Bat bite A resident in the 400 block of Van Auken Street told police she was bitten by a bat in her garage about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. Office theft A person at The Grove, 127 W. Diversey Ave., told police Dec. 20 that someone took her debit card and money from her purse. The incident happened between 8:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 12:45 p.m. Dec. 15. She said she left her purse on a desk in an unattended office, which is accessible to all employees. She later learned there had been several unsuccessful transactions on her debit card. The case is pending an investigation. Neighbor confesses A resident in the 300 block of South West Avenue told police that she left her laptop outside her apartment about 8 p.m. Sunday and later found it missing. An officer spoke with a neighbor, who admitted to taking the laptop. The laptop was returned to the owner, who declined to pursue charges. Vandals seen Four youths were seen damaging a street sign about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in the 500 block of South Rex Boulevard. Officers checked the area, but could not find the youths. The street sign was found bent. The youths were described as white, male, between 12 and 15 years old, and wearing shorts. One of the suspects was in a white T-shirt. Unattended items stolen A person at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, told police that a pair of glasses and a travel mug were stolen after he left them unattended about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 18. An investigation is pending. Long walk A man told police Thursday that he had been walking for two days, had been drinking and wanted help. Officers encountered him about 3 a.m. in the 500 block of West St. Charles Road. He was taken to the hospital. Wedding band missing A person told police that he lost his white gold wedding band about 9 p.m. Dec. 4 while attending a function at YMCA, 211 W. First St. He reported the loss Thursday. Fraudulent call A resident in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue told police Tuesday that she received a phone call about a possible fraudulent charge on her credit card. The victim provided her Social Security number and banking information to the suspect. The woman placed holds on her bank accounts and credit cards. She reported the incident Thursday and appeared to have not suffered any financial losses. Domestic disturbance Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Butterfield Road. An officer spoke with a person who said she was involved in an argument with a household member. Fugitive driver An officer tried to stop a car about 8 p.m. Dec. 20 at York and North. The vehicle was reported stolen in Addison. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290. Warrant Jamya Olden, 20, of Chicago, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., on a warrant. She was released on bond. Driving violations Rahikia Johnson, 24, of Chicago, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Monday at Melrose and North on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. She was released on bond. Priscilla Martin, 36, of River Grove, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of North York on charges of no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond. Miguel Romero, 48, of Chicago, was cited about 5 p.m. Monday at Third and Evergreen on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign. He was released on bond. Dwan Gant, 32, of Chicago, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Monday and Lake and Interstate 290 on charges of driving with a suspended license, expired registration and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. Joseph Berg, 31, of Villa Park, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and Villa on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. He was released on bond. Ibarra Salatiel Jacovo, 51, of Addison, was cited about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grand and Lake on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond. Jimmie M. Blount, 39, of South Elgin, was cited about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Poplar and St. Charles on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. He was released on bond. David Giancarlo Rodriguez-Davila, 30, of Chicago, was cited shortly after noon Thursday in the 600 block of West North on charges of no valid driver's license and failure to wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt. He was released on bond. Zuleydi Salgado, 25, of Glendale Heights, was arrested about 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple and North on a warrant and on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to wear a seat belt. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Iris Guillen Monsalve, 72, of Berwyn, was cited about 4 a.m. Friday at Elm and North on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
