UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was fatally struck by a train at the 86th Street-Lexington Avenue station Tuesday afternoon in what may have been an attempt at suicide, police said. The man may have jumped in front of the southbound 4 train that struck him shortly after 2:15 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. After being removed from the tracks, he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY. The train's motorman told police he saw the man, who is not expected to survive, underneath one of the train cars, the NYPD said. The MTA rerouted 4 and 5 trains to the local 6 train track between 42nd and 125th streets, and some 5 trains were running along the 2 line between 149 St.-Grand Concourse and Nevins St., officials said.
