The African American Police League in partnership with The Toledo Opera and the Toledo Police Museum is hosting a launch event. Our event, Preserving the African American Legacy in Law Enforcement, will include an announcement of our grant award from the Safety and Justice Challenge supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the launch of our Oral History project, the re-launch of our Mentoring Program as well as The Toledo Police Museum Black and Blue Exhibit. We will also feature an excerpt of the documentary film Blue: Stories from Toledo created by Toledo Opera and Madhouse, and retired Toledo Police Lieutenant Robert Hellom's original poem Tainted Badge 602 performed by Toledo Opera artists. Join us for an evening of celebration, light refreshments and fellowship.
