Rehoming adult quaker parrot

Description

Ichabod is a male quaker parrot whose original owner can’t take care of him anymore due to severe illness. I agreed to take him temporarily and find him a good home on her behalf. He is between 17 and 18 years old, and their lifespan is about 20-30 years. Ichabod can be unsure of himself, and has a phobia of plastic bags of all kinds. He was mistreated (not by the original owner) and has a large scar on top of his head. In spite of this, he gets very attached to his person (and is already getting attached to me after a few weeks). He loves to have his face and neck rubbed when he is in the mood. Even when he is grumpy and doesn’t want to be touched, he has only done painless warning “bites” so far, and has not broken skin or left any marks on me. He does not like to be alone, so I would recommend him for someone who works from home or is retired. I do not recommend him for anyone who is sensitive to noise or lives in an apartment, because he is very loud when he wants attention. If you are not experienced with parrots, he might not be the best choice. Rehoming fee starts at $100 but is negotiable. I would like to rehome him this week and can meet you anywhere in the Dayton area. I am willing to do a trial period where you take him for a while to see if he is a good fit, but I will be moving away permanently this summer. I will include his travel cage. It is big enough to house a smaller bird permanently, but I do not keep him caged myself and don’t have a larger cage to send with him. He does have a small playpen / jungle gym for birds that he is currently using as a perch, and I am willing to include that too if needed. If you end up returning him to me, I will not give a refund unless all items are also returned. Fyi: Quaker parrots ARE legal in the state of Ohio but their wings must be kept trimmed.
