Description

How has journalism and the role of the American press changed throughout our history? The History of the American PressA free and vigilant press has been at the heart of the American republic since colonial days. The press is the ONLY American business specifically protected in the Bill of Rights. The watchdog role of the news media is critical to this nation. But, technology challenges and changing economics have made the business model of the modern news media problematic. Pressing issues such as bias, data mining, and corruption have only added more fuel to the debate. January’s CAL history talk will touch on many of these concerns and discuss how events in our history led us to this point. If attending the event in person, please bring a dessert to share! https://calschool.org/
