WISCONSIN — Gov. Tony Evers said Monday that he supports reforming Wisconsin's bail laws and that he would weigh in on investigating Milwaukee County's district attorney after a driver who was out on bail was accused of plowing through a crowd at Waukesha's Christmas parade.
Evers said in an interview with WISC-TV that he may support bail reform laws after the tragedy but wants "every stakeholder" at the table.
The governor told WISC-TV that he receive a complaint regarding Milwaukee County District Attorney John T. Chisholm and that he would weigh in on investigating the complaint.
A conservative group called Empower Wisconsin filed a petition with Evers to have Chisholm removed from office after an assistant district attorney set Darrell Brooks Jr.'s bail at $1,000 after he was arrested on battery and domestic abuse charges.

Brooks is accused of driving his vehicle into a crowd of parade marchers in late November in Waukesha.
The Wisconsin Legislature's committee on employment relations voted Tuesday to give a 2 percent raise to all state employees except for Chisholm, and the Wisconsin Examiner reported that Republican Senate President Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) referenced the controversy surrounding the district attorney and the Waukesha parade.
