Last Update: Dec. 26, 2021 Renton Severe Weather Shelter opens Dec. 26 The City of Renton is activating the Severe Weather Shelter at the Highlands Community Center (800 Edmonds Avenue NE) beginning Sunday night, Dec. 26, through Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. All are welcome. The severe weather shelter is available for single women and men, couples, and homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles. Separate sleeping spaces have been prepared for men, women, and for families with children. Facility Updates Renton Community Center and Renton Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday, Dec. 27. The two facilities will reopen once it is safe for our staff and patrons to return. Accounts will receive credits for canceled activities, which will be available for your next reservation/activity. King County Resources The following information is provided by the city Emergency Management division. Emergency Instructions Drive safely, please, and watch your step! Accidents of all kinds are more likely to happen in this kind of weather. Check on others who might need help. If your power is out, dress in layers and stay dry to stay warm. For food safety, avoid opening your refrigerator door unless absolutely necessary. Additional information on getting through a power outage is available from Puget Sound Energy and Seattle City Light. For life threatening emergencies call 9-1-1 right away. Utilities Water No reports of disruption to water services have been posted. Sewer [status update] Electricity, Gas, and Power Electricity, gas, and power services are provided by Puget Sound Energy for most of the City, with some residents served by Seattle City Light. Garbage and Debris Removal Service interruptions to regular garbage service are posted by Republic Services. Missed garbage collections will be made up on the following Saturday. Roads To report roads blocked by fallen trees or abandoned cars, call the Renton Police non-emergency number at 425-235-2121. Shelters The Severe Weather Shelter at 300 Rainier Avenue N, Renton, WA 98057 is now closed.   Weather For current weather alerts and information in Renton see the National Weather Service seven day forecast. Bus Services Disruptions to regular bus and transportation services are posted by King County Metro. Human Services Some Renton residents may find their basic needs unmet as a result of an emergency. If temporary help is available, information will be posted here. City Facilities No disruptions to city facilities or buildings have been posted. Recreation Programs For current recreation program information call the City of Renton inclement weather line at 425-430-6719. The inclement weather line is updated at 4 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. on Saturdays, and 12 p.m. on Sundays.
