FALMOUTH, MA — A missing senior citizen who was considered to be in extreme danger due to the cold and severe weather was found Monday morning, after a five-hour search. Falmouth police received word that an elderly man was missing from a residence on Backus River Road in East Falmouth just after 2 a.m. Monday morning. He was considered to be in extreme danger due to the severe cold weather, and the fact that he was only wearing shorts and a T-shirt, with no shoes, police said. To help find the man, an extensive search involving multiple agencies ensued, involving a helicopter, K-9 Officer, drones, and first responders on foot. People in the surrounding area received a FalmouthAlert call, asking them to check their homes and cars in case the man was seeking warmth inside. Around 7:09 a.m., one neighbor checked his house after receiving the alert and found the missing man in his garage. Police say the man was immediately transported to Falmouth Hospital and received emergency care.
