STAMFORD, CT — Mayor Caroline Simmons and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission announced recently that $108,000 in grant funding has been awarded for projects by Stamford-based arts organizations or groups backed by a Stamford-based non-profit. All applicants were selected for funding "due to their commitment to providing quality programs that are accessible, diverse, innovative, and add to Stamford's artistic and cultural scene," according to a news release from the commission. "The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us all how incredibly important the arts are for the health and vibrancy of a community," Simmons said in a news release. "I look forward to seeing these programs in action and meeting the hard-working and creative people involved who help make Stamford a wonderful place to live." John Varamo, Program Manager of Arts & Culture, thanked Simmons and the commission for their dedication to the artistic and cultural institutions of Stamford. "I'm very excited to see that every year our applicant pool grows more diverse, and begins to represent what Stamford really is; a melting pot of cultures each with their own unique artistic flair," Varamo said.
