Secaucus: Drunk Driver Drives Into Police Headquarters, Cops Say

SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police say a man driving drunk careened over the sidewalk and drove into the side of police headquarters and town hall on Christmas Eve. The accident happened at 2:26 a.m. on Dec. 24: Police say Hugo Brito, 30, of Jersey City was turning onto County Avenue from Paterson Plank Road and accidentally veered off the sidewalk and into town hall. The large boarded-up hole left by his collision can still be seen Wednesday. Police headquarters and town hall share the municipal building at that intersection. Brito was charged with driving while intoxicated and exhibiting a false government document (a driver's license or ID), plus an additional four motor vehicle summonses. Nobody, including Brito, was injured in the crash and he released into the custody of a responsible adult.
