WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — As the omicron variant continues to spread statewide during the holidays, more Texans are seeking COVID-19 tests but running into roadblocks finding them.
As of Dec. 22, Williamson County had 141 new cases and some people are wanting to get tested ahead of family holiday gatherings.
The Williamson County Cities and Health District has partnered with Curative and offers free walk-in COVID-19 testing sites across the county.
On site, participants will be given a test kit, asked to self-administer the shallow nasal kit, then return the kit to the testing booth staff. Test results are typically returned within 48 hours.
To register, residents are asked to schedule their test at Curative's website.
WilCo residents can also head into Austin to get tested by Austin Public Health. The public health authorities is offering two COVID-19 testing sites for area residents.
Private testing is also available at sites around Austin, including pharmacies, hospitals, and urgent care centers. These are the local pharmacies where you can get tested:
