HARFORD COUNTY, MD — With high rates of COVID-19 transmission in Harford County, the health department is encouraging people to take precautions. "Wear a mask, social distance, stay home if you are sick, get tested, and most importantly get vaccinated," the Harford County Health Department said Monday. A little more than 62 percent of Harford County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning they have gotten one single-dose vaccine or two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer shot. "Nobody should think of a booster as just a bonus or an extra dose," Gov. Larry Hogan said. "If you've been waiting to get your booster shot, do not wait any longer. The time to do it is now." The new COVID-91 case rate is 91.16 in Harford County, according to state health officials. When an area exceeds 10 new cases per 100,000, community spread has accelerated and is at dangerous levels, according to the Harvard Global Health Institute. If the case rate is greater than 25 per 100,000, officials say community spread is out of control and may require measures to curb the infection. Currently all jurisdictions in Maryland have new case rates higher than 38 per 100,000, with the lowest in Cecil County (38.38) and Worcester County (38.82), the Maryland Department of Health reported Monday.
