First, today's weather: Cold; a little afternoon rain. High: 43 Low: 39. Here are the top five stories today in Sacramento: Interstate 80 remained closed on Monday from Applegate Road in Placer County to the Nevada state line due to heavy snow and downed power lines, Caltrans said. Highway 50 was also closed from Placerville to Meyers. Pacific Gas and Electric Company said around Monday at 8:45 a.m. that about 69,000 customers were without power in the company's Sierra division, which includes El Dorado, Nevada, Placer and Sierra counties. (KCRA3) The Memphis Grizzlies defeated Sacramento for the second time in 10 days, beating the Kings 127-102. Tyrese Haliburton had 18 points and seven assists for Sacramento, ending his run of four consecutive games with at least 20 points and 10 assists. De'Aaron Fox scored 12 points in his return for the Kings after missing nearly two weeks while in the NBA's health and safety protocol. (ABC10)Crews responded to a water rescue effort in the American River near the Old Fair Oaks Bridge, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said Monday morning. One victim was reportedly in the water near the pedestrian bridge, Metro Fire said in a tweet just before 10 a.m. No other details were available at the time of publication. (Sac Bee via MSN) The Sacramento Valley is heading into a period of cold temperatures this week. Overnight temperatures will dip below freezing in many locations throughout the valley Tuesday through next weekend. The series of storms that began one week ago will have its final push Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Snow levels may drop down to near 500 feet. (FOX40) 31 new laws will go into effect in 2022 related to the housing situation in California. The most impactful of these laws will make it possible to split single lots in half and build multi-family properties on each lot. In other words, where you can build 1 house today, in 2022, you will be able to build dwellings for 4 families. The leader of the event asked the Texas Roadhouse if they could help out by donating some coleslaw. Well, they did much better than that, donating the whole meal of pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw for the 100 people the group expected to feed!
