PITTSBURGH, PA — Following the Steelers' soul-crushing 36-10 blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the team has just a 13 percent chance of making the playoffs.
That's according to prognosticating site FiveThirtyEight, which gives the Steelers a 6 percent chance of winning the AFC North.
The model uses Elo ratings, based on team statistics and results in head to head matchups, to rank all teams in the NFL. The model, alas, gives the Steelers less than a 0.1 percent chance of winning the Super Bowl.
But if you watched Sunday's game, you kind of already knew that.
Pittsburgh currently is the 11th seed in the AFC; only seven teams get in.
FiveThirtyEight calls the Kansas City Chiefs the favorites, with a 26 percent shot at winning it all. They are followed by the Green Bay Packers at 23 percent and the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8 percent.
