WORCESTER, MA — A 62-year-old man was seriously hurt Monday morning when a driver hit him along Lake Avenue in Worcester.
The collision happened just before 8 a.m. near Belmont Street/Route 9. The man was crossing the roadway when the driver, who was headed north on Lake Avenue in a sedan, hit him. Police found the victim in the roadway.
Police did not immediately announce any charges or arrests, but did say the driver stayed at the scene of the collision.
This is the second serious incident in Worcester where a driver wounded a pedestrian in recent days. On Thursday, a driver hit an 11-year-old girl in an SUV along Pleasant Street. The girl was in a crosswalk when she was hit, and police did cite the driver.
