Here are the top 3 stories in Atlanta today: A man is dead after his kayak flipped Sunday morning at a lake in southwest Atlanta. The man was kayaking in the lake directly behind his home in the 2000 block of Benjamin E Mays Drive when the kayak overturned. A 911 caller advised about a possible drowning and a rescue effort ensued around 10 a.m. The 34-year-old man's body was recovered from the lake. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)MARTA authorities encouraged people attending Thursday's Peach Bowl festivities or Atlanta's iconic New Year's Eve Peach Drop to use public transit. Atlanta's railway authority said it's an affordable way to attend the city's New Year's Eve traditions. The Peach Bowl has multiple events slated throughout Thursday with routes leading to each location, while Friday's Peach Drop begins at 6:00 p.m near the Five Points rail station.
