Stand-up Comedy Fundraiser for Kim Valentine This is a comedy show with the Queen of Comedy Boston Christine Hurley along with Carolyn Plummer, Mark Riley & Chris Zito to benefit our friend Kim Valetine whom is currently battling brain cancer. The background to when Kim’s fight started: In July of 2020 Kim was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, breast cancer. She quickly started chemotherapy which was followed by a lumpectomy. She then started radiation which was followed by more chemotherapy. She finished her last round of the second chemotherapy in September of 2021. Not even 3 months later, she was told her breast cancer had metastasized to her brain with a total of more than 10 tumors. At this time she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread not only to her brain but her lungs as well. Days after receiving this news she was scheduled for brain surgery to remove the two biggest tumors. The brain surgeon decided it was safe to proceed with surgery despite the lung tumors being discovered and her surgery was successful. Despite the surgery being a success, she still has significant cognitive and motor deficits. In hopes to avoid more deficits she has entered into a clinical trail of radiation to kill the remaining brain tumors while hopefully sparing the rest of her brain from the horrible side effects of radiation. Once she has completed radiation to the brain she will begin chemotherapy and immunotherapy followed by more radiation to treat the lung tumors. Her two children Allie (24) and Drew (22) are her main supporters and motivation to keep fighting. She has a long road ahead of her but the outpouring of love and support from those in her life keeps her strong despite this life changing diagnosis.
