ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — A 21-year-old man as struck and seriously injured in a chain reaction crash allegedly caused by a drunken driver in Roslyn Heights on Christmas Eve, Nassau police said.
A 2007 Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 24-year-old man, who was traveling southbound on Mineola Boulevard, struck a Toyota RAV at about 11:36 p.m., police said. The Toyota, which was involved in an earlier car crash, police said, adding that the RAV 4 then hit a 21-year-old pedestrian.
The man suffered "multiple injuries" and was transported to a nearby hospital where he is "in critical but stable condition, according to police. The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder, Oscar Fernando Suarez Marquez, was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree assault, police said.
No other details were released by police.
Fernando Suarez Marquez was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court, in Hempstead on Saturday.
